Ram Krishna College is a premier institution in North Bihar and border area of Nepal, accredited with grade 'B' by NAAC. It was established in 1940 by Ram Krishna Pubey, a renowned social activist of Madhubani. His vision was to provide higher education for boys and girls in the predominantly rural and urban area of Madhubani. Ram Krishna College , situated at the foothills of Himalaya and in the Heartland of Mithilanchal.

It was ranked as one of the top 10 colleges of the Lalit Narayan Mithila University as well as a constitute unit of university. This premier college was established as an under graduate college in August 1940 and was affiliated to Patna University in 1941. Thenceforth, iit started teaching in Arts, Science and Commerce catering to the academic needs of the people of the boarder district and parts of Nepal. This College became a Constitute unit of Lalit Narayan Mithila University in 1975. The college got recognized under 2(f) of UGC act in 1992. On account of excellent academic performances Post Graduate Studies started here in 1983. At present, the college imparts Post Graduate education to students across all the three facilities i.e. Arts, Science and commerce. In 2012 college affiliated with NCTE for two-year B.Ed. Course. In 2021 another professional course introduces by college as BBA & BCA which is affiliated by Lalit Narayan Mithila University.

The location of Ram Krishna College is quite enviable with Railway stations, bus-stand in close vicinity of the college and an extensive bus and auto service that enables students to commute from different parts of the Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, and Sitamari. There are other amenities like general hospital, bazars, banks, post-office, etc. nearby the college. The college campus has photocopy facility, banking and health-care services, and a cafeteria. In spite of being located in the thriving part of the city, Ram Krishan College campus is extremely verdurous. It has a maze of tall trees, lush green lawns and pruned hedges. A herbal garden within the premises is a source of pride for the college. Apart from the academic and administrative sections of the college, the campus located in 39 acres of land includes a sports ground, a residential complex for the staff and two pond for water harvesting.

The college offers 22 undergraduate courses and 14 post graduates in Science, Commerce and Humanities, a self-financing course in BBA BCA and B.Ed., Several senior faculty members supervise Ph.D. scholars registered with University of LNMU. Some students of the college frequently emerge as rank-holders in the University examinations and many are placed for internships in prestigious organisations annually. Ram Krishan College believes in and promotes the ideals of gender equality and community service. To this effect the college offers some relaxation in cut-offs to female students during the time of admissions. The college also honours and celebrates men and women working towards women's empowerment. The college conducts several community outreach programmes and endeavours to provide students with holistic education and experience so that they become assets to their professions and to the society. We take pride in making the college campus a green zone. We have numerous environment friendly practices in place on the campus: 'ban on plastic', 'ban on smoking,' 'no vehicle entry', and tree plantation are some of the measures implemented to reduce the carbon prints on campus. We limit the use of non-renewable resources and rely on alternative sources like solar panels, water-harvesting pits, and paper-recycling unit. Ram Krishna College also ensures proper waste disposal, be it organic waste, e-waste, or sanitary waste. While organic-waste is transformed into vermi-compost, e-waste is identified, labelled, and disposed of depending on the nature of the substance. Taking note of the importance of sanitary hygiene and effective waste disposal, Ram Krishna College also took the initiative of installing sanitary waste incinerator in women's washrooms in the college. Ram Krishan College has come a long way from its humble beginnings and moderate facilities to a campus equipped with impressive amenities.
